Disability Inclusion

What Disability Rights and Inclusion Means to ACIEDafrica

Core Principles
At ACIEDafrica, diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values. We:
  • Value Diversity: Embracing the multiplicity of nations and cultures where we operate.
  • Foster Inclusion: Ensuring every team member is empowered to contribute to our mission.
  • Ensure Equity: Maintaining fairness in all our actions.
Our “leave no one behind” approach emphasizes increasing the representation of underserved populations. Individuals from marginalized or excluded groups are recognized as full constituents of the communities we represent and serve. This commitment supports government efforts and aligns with the principles and targets of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the National Development Plan, and other targeted initiatives.
Disability Inclusion and Resilience Activities (IDRA)
ACIEDafrica’s IDRA supports innovative initiatives that promote the inclusion of people with disabilities across various sectors, including:
  • Health and Education: Enhancing access and participation.
  • Workplaces and Economic Activities: Promoting equitable opportunities.
  • Governance: Ensuring representation in decision-making processes.

The Centre also engages in:

  • Policy Development: Shaping policies that protect the rights of people with disabilities.
  • Empirical Research: Conducting disability-related studies to inform evidence-based advocacy.
  • Advocacy: Championing the rights of people with disabilities who are often excluded from decisions affecting their lives.
Rooted in the belief that every individual has value, the Centre strives to promote full community participation for people with disabilities and continues to engage the Nigerian government in advocacy efforts on their behalf.
